Storm takes charge in Abu Dhabi

England’s Graeme Storm fired a 64 to share a one-shot lead with Australian Richard Green after two rounds of the Abu Dhabi Championship.

Storm eagled the 10th to come home in 31 for 11 under, while Green shot a front-nine 30 in his 65.

Paul Casey, winner of the tournament two years ago, also sparkled with a 65 to end the day one shot off the pace alongside Londoner Anthony Wall.

Padraig Harrington birdied the last two holes for a 66 to leave him four back.

The second day did not see a repeat of Thursday’s bad weather but the delays incurred meant just under 30 players have still to complete their second rounds on Saturday morning.

But it was Storm, in his first event since the Volvo Masters at the start of November, who dominated proceedings on the second day.

The 30-year-old former British amateur champion’s card contained seven birdies as well as the eagle three at the 554-yard par-five 10th.

World number two Sergio Garcia’s 71 left him eight adrift and Masters champion Trevor Immelman was alongside him following a 69.

Abu Dhabi Championship

Sweden’s Johan Edfors and Mikael Lundberg top the leaderboard after day one of the Abu Dhabi Championship.

The duo carded six-under 66s for a one-shot lead over a group including 20-year-old Englishman Oliver Fisher.

World number two Sergio Garcia is among a number of players who have yet to finish their first rounds after a two-hour hail and rainstorm delayed play.

Padraig Harrington, making his first appearance of the year, had struck four pars in his opening four holes before the freak weather forced play to be suspended.

Defending champion Martin Kaymer is well placed in a group of five players on four under, along with Northern Ireland teenager Rory McIlroy and England’s Anthony Wall.

A Golfbuyitonline Sneaky Peak…

They won’t be available until February, but the new Cobra S9-1 drivers are nothing short of spectacular!

Cobra’s primary design goal was to maximise centre of gravity to promote higher ball speeds and more consistent ball flight across the entire face area.  The S9-1 features some amazing technology, such as a Dual Rhombus Face Insert which maimises ball speeds across the face and has low/back centre of gravity for an improved launch, spin and ball flight and has an updated dimple design which enhances the view at address.

The S9-1 was recently used by Geoff Ogilvy when he won the first event of the 2009 PGA Tour season, the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Championship.  Ogilvy took the outright lead on the 14th hole of the opening round and never trailed the remainder of the tournament.  He birdied four straight holes on the back nine and posted a final round 5-under 68 for a 24-under 268 total, six shots clear of his closest competitors.

We’ll have more information on the Cobra S9-1 drivers when they are released next month!

Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Golf Balls, Callaway Warbird Plus Golf Balls and Callaway HX Hot Plus Golf Balls are just some of the new Callaway golf balls available from Golfbuyitonline now!

The Diablo is all about “attitude” toward golf and competition.  It’s about “Releasing Your Inner Diablo” – Whatever that means.  But the Diablo golf ball is a golf ball that combines good levels of distance with a good amount of feel, while not generating quite as much spin as some other balls.

The Callaway HX Hot Plus golf ball is a three piece offering that is super long, while also offering a decent amount of spin for slightly better players.

The Callaway Warbird Plus completes the line up and fills the gap for the players looking for a golf ball that is affordable yet offers great distance off the tee.

Golf – The New Extreme Sport?

Photobucket

Sergio Garcia hit the dizzy heights of second on the world rankings recently – and to celebrate, he hit the dizzy heights of Hanglip Mountain in South Africa to play one of the world’s most spectacular golf holes.  The “Extreme 19” at the new Legend Golf and Safari Resort has a tee that sits 400 Metres above the green below.  And, after hitting a few shots with his driver, Sergio confessed he had never played anything like it before in his life.  “This is truly unique.  I have never seen a hole like this and it’s a great challenge,” said the Spaniard.  “I’m so glad I made par with one of my balls.  What a hole, what a view, what a resort.”
