TaylorMade TP Red Golf Balls – Important Announcement
TaylorMade have announced that the TP Red Golf Balls exceed the USGA’s and R&A initial velocity rule. This was down to human error after the guys at TaylorMade accidentally made a batch that paired the TP Red cover with the wrong core. This variance was limited to TP Reds only, and didn’t affect the TP Black or any other TaylorMade balls.

The bottom line is that the TP Red stays the same, only the side stamp has changed. Because the TP Red that are in the market now, with the original side stamp, were ruled conforming to the Rules of Golf, they can continue to be used in normal play including those rounds in which scores are posted for handicap purposes.
That’s because only high-level tournaments, like tour events and USGA and R&A competitions, typically require contestants to use a ball that’s on the List. Most club championships and member guests don’t. But no matter what kind of tournament you’re playing in, it’s a good idea to ask an official beforehand if you need to play a ball that’s on the List. If you do, you’ll need a TP Red with the new side stamp. If not, the original side stamp will do fine.
Woods is Ready for Action
Tiger Woods said he feels fitter than ever ahead of this week’s WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona.

The tournament, which begins on today, will be Woods’ first since winning the US Open at Torrey Pines last June.

Mizuno MX-700 Drivers
The Mizuno MX-700 Series is a powerful wood line up likely to appeal to a wide range of players through its forgiving nature and high ball speeds. All with confidence inspiring geometry, the Mizuno MX-700 Series stands out due to its use of new face materials, creating red hot ball speeds and distance across the line.
The Mizuno MX-700 Hot Metal Driver takes the best traits of its predecessor the Mizuno MX-560 – a high penetrating ball flight and extreme MOI stability, but adds sharper looks and a high energy Ti9 distance busting face insert. The Ti9 insert has a unique vertical grain enabling greater flex from top to bottom of the face, for longer drives across the clubface. The intrusive ring at impact has been replaced by a serious thump.
The new Mizuno Hot Metal MX-700 utilizes a new rolled Ti9 plasma welded face to advance driving distance, stability and feedback.
The Ti9 Hot Metal adds ball speed across the clubface through its unique aligned grain structure -expanding the high COR area for consistently long drives.
A broad, wide geometry (allowed by Ti9’s weight saving) provides an extremely low and deep COG and a centrally located sweet spot for enhanced vertical stability. Resulting in low spin and a high, penetrating ball flight.
A vibration dampening internal hull adds a solid, powerful sensation at impact.
Hot Metal Ti-9 titanium face: Possesses a unique aligned grain structure, expanding the high COR area for distance from off-centre strikes.
Enhanced vertical stability: Head geometry provides an extreme low and deep COG for a high, low spinning, penetrating ball flight.
Power Hull re-enforcement: Internal reinforcements for powerful feel and sound.
Extreme MOI: Largest, most forgiving geometry achievable.

Tiger’s New Arrival
Tiger Woods is celebrating the birth of his second child and hopes to return to competitive golf within weeks.
Woods’ wife Elin gave birth to the couple’s second child, son Charlie Axel Woods, on Sunday.
The American has not played since undergoing knee surgery after winning his 14th major title last June at the US Open at Torrey Pines.
It is unclear if the birth of Woods’ second child will delay or speed up his return to competitive golf.
Woods is targeting the Masters in April as his first priority but he is likely to want to play competitively before that event.
The WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson later this month is a possibility for his much-anticipated comeback, although the WGC-CA Championship in Miami (12-15 March) is more likely. Whichever date he chooses, Woods admits it’s going to be a hectic few weeks.
