FootJoy’s New Shoe Range Coming Soon to Golfbuyitonline
Footjoy have released the new information about their new shoe range which is coming out soon to replace their classic range of shoe. The new FJ Icon shoe is simply the best for the best.
The enthusiasm of the Tour Pro’s was undisguised as they put a very special new FootJoy golf shoe on test. When FootJoy, the company with a 100 year history of serving the game of golf, decided to introduce its finest golf shoe ever, the company drew from finely tailored upper patterns, premium leathers, performance-infused outsoles and an almost limitless customisation options to create the new FJ ICON. Golf’s most demanding critics on the Tour were immediately impressed.
David Toms described his reaction to FJ ICON. “First of all, great looks. And then when I put them on my feet, they were extremely comfortable. This shoe is second to none, really. I couldn’t wait to get on the golf course and walk a round. And after playing in them, my feet felt great.”
Premium full grain upper leathers provide soft breathable waterproof performance. A comfort experience that is enhanced by full leather linings and a leather covered dual density PU FitBed. Memory Foam, an essential feature from the premium FootJoy SYNR-G™ shoe was added to provide unsurpassed custom comfort and a personalised fit.
All this supported on a Tri-density TPU outsole with dual OptiFlex™ to generate the solid hitting platform and great flexibility that good players demand. A perforated alloy Icon Torque Bar put in place additional support for increased stability and power. Stinger™ cleats from CHAMP® proved the perfect foil in terms of traction.
“Making golf shoes is our sole passion,” says Jack Erickson, FootJoy’s Vice President of Golf Footwear. “It’s what we are and what we do every day. Never before have we developed a category of shoes that integrates the very best features from our other categories until now. FJ ICON truly is the best of the best.”
The new FJ ICON will be with FootJoy retailers in the New Year. With 44 base colours, 79 saddle colours, 54 accent options and three lace colours to choose from, the options are almost endless. Simply design the shoes, print and hand to or e-mail the summary to your local FJ stockist and they’ll take care of the rest!
Perhaps the last word should go to Ian Poulter, a man it’s fair to say who has more than a passing interest in design. “We’re all excited to get to create and design our own FJ ICON shoe from start to finish. It’s a very exciting time for the shoe to evolve and take us to the next generation.”
Watch out for the new FJ Icon Shoes coming into stock.

Dubai’s World Championship prize money is cut by 25%
Last week the decision was made the European Golf Tour has confirmed that there will be a 25% reduction in the prize money awarded at the season ending Dubai World Championships and for the Race to Dubia bonus pool.
If a player is lucky enough and wins both the tournament and the Race to Dubai they will now take home £1.7 million instead of the £2.2 million they could have had if the decision was not made to make the 25% reduction in prize money.
The move follows discussions in the United Arab Emirates between Tour chief executive George O’Grady and event sponsors Nakheel. They came to decision to reduce the prize money to reflect the current worldwide economic position and have stated that they will jointly examine prize money levels in future years in the light of this developing global circumstance. The prize funds for both competitions are significant amounts that are worthy of the season-ending tournament and world-class field that will be competing, yet they are reflective of a new economic climate.
The New Mizuno MX-1000 Hot Metal Irons
Incorporating Mizuno’s HOT METAL concept into iron design, the MX-1000 is for golfers looking for an extreme combination of distance and forgiveness.
Astonishing distances that push the boundaries of the R&A and USGA’s performance limitations are achieved by plasma welding a thin, hot, ES230 maraging steel face to a 431 stainless steel body – a technique perfected in Mizuno’s MP Fli-Hi utility iron.
The HOT METAL face is teamed with a hollow construction and internal weighting -encouraging strikes from a wide area of the face to hold their line with minimal distance loss. The hollow construction also allows weight to be engineered deep within the head for a naturally high trajectory – enabling the use of stronger lofts for even greater distance.
Aggressively bevelled lead and trailing edges effectively narrow the MX-1000’s substantial soleplate, for clean turf interaction and use from a variety of lies.
What Mizuno Say.
“We learned a lot about the possibilities of hollow construction with our Fli-Hi irons. The MX-1000 takes the distance and flight benefits of that technology right through to the GW.”
“We’ve used technology and materials to increase forgiveness, rather than the old trick of adding loads of offset to an over-large head. Our quest is to develop equipment that gives amateur golfers every technical performance benefit possible – but with head profiles that even professionals could potentially put in their own bags.”
“The MX-1000 takes distance and forgiveness as far as they can, without the head size and profile becoming offensive to the eye.” (David Llewellyn, Atlanta R&D).
Golf Tips for Playing in the Rain
They key to playing golf in the rain is to have the right equipment. Making sure that you have the right waterproofs can be key to the success in your game. With the typical British weather you never know when you will end up playing golf in the rain, this is why every golfer who plays golf in the rain should have a set of waterproof clothing.
You need to make sure that your waterproofs fit you properly, this sounds obvious thing to state but if your sleeve is too long or to baggy this will affect the grip on your club therefore affecting your swing. It’s recommended that you go for a slimish fit jacket in order to overcome this problem. It’s also key to remember that most waterproof jackets have a special lining to keep you warm during the winter, bare this in mind when you are dressing for golf if you have a jumper underneath your jacket you may overheat and feel uncomfortable.
Aside from wearing the correct waterproof clothing it’s also recommended that you carry a spare glove in wet golfing conditions. Also keep this in a plastic bag so it’s kept extra dry. Often wearing a wet golf glove throughout the whole game can cause sores or blisters on the hand, changing your glove for a fresh one will reduce the risk of this happening.
Lastly remember to leave your waterproofs out to dry after your round, failure to do so will result in an unpleasant smell and may leave stains on your clothing. You can and should wash your waterproofs always check with the manufacture guidelines on this though as you don’t want to wash away material in extreme temperatures.
STRICKER RISES WITH TITLEIST TO CLAIM THE DEUTSCHE BANK CHAMPIONSHIP
Steve Stricker wins the second event of the 2009 FedEx Cup Playoffs and climbs to the top of the FedEx Cup rankings
Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker produced a birdie-birdie finish at TPC Boston to claim the Deutsche Bank Championship and climb to the top of the 2009 FedEx Cup rankings. Stricker’s final round 4-under par 67 gave him a 17-under par total which was enough to seal victory by one shot from fellow full-line Titleist player Jason Dufner and Pro V1 loyalist Scott Verplank. Victory in Massachusetts was the third of the year for Stricker, helping him climb to second place in the World Golf Rankings and top of the 2009 FedEx Cup Playoffs as Titleist continues to be the choice of champions.
Stricker trusted the superior performance of Titleist throughout his bag for his seventh career PGA Tour win, including the Pro V1 golf ball, 909D3 driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 909H hybrid, 755 irons, Vokey Design wedges. As well as claiming the top three spots on the leaderboard, Angel Cabrera (Pro V1x) and Padraig Harrington (Pro V1x) finished on 269, 15-under par to give the legendary Titleist Pro V1 family five of the top six finishers. The majority of the field also put their trust in the superior feel and control of the Pro V1 as 63 players teed up with Titleist, compared to 10 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the counts for iron sets, wedges and putters respectively.
Elsewhere, on the Champions Tour, Pro V1 loyalist Jeff Sluman shot a final round 4-under par, 68, to claim the Walmart First Tee Open by two strokes from fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Gene Jones (Pro V1x). On the Nationwide Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Troy Merritt beat Pro V1 loyalist Adam Bland in an all-Titleist play-off to claim his first Tour victory at the Mexico Open. On the Canadian Tour, James Love trusted the Pro V1x to claim the Canadian Tour Championship at the first extra hole. These wins across worldwide professional tours take Titleist’s worldwide win count for 2009 to 108, compared to 22 for the nearest competitor.
Another triumph for Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker who climbs to World No.2, as well as the constant flow of victories around the world for Pro V1 loyalists proves once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
Left Hand Golf
Of the, estimated, 6.7 billion people in the world today, approximately, 10%or 6.7 million are left handed.
There are believed to be somewhere between 25-30 million golfers in the world today and , even, if you halved the 10% of left handed people in the world you are still left with approx. 1.25-1.5 million people who play golf that are naturally left handed. That is a whole lot of people!
Until recently left handed golfers were left with very little choice but to play with the same golf clubs as their right handed counterparts, but at last, the big golf manufacturers have woken up to the fact that “lefties “ might actually want to play with golf clubs that feel more natural to them. All the biggest names in golf manufacturing, not only, provide top quality right handed golf clubs but you can access the same top quality of left handed golf clubs too. Names such as, Callaway, Titleist, Nike, etc sell their most famous clubs for players, which ever hand they use.
Bob Charles, a native of New Zealand, was the first left handed golfer to win The Open Championship in 1963 at Lytham and St Annes and is considered to be one of golf’s greatest putters of the ball. In 2007, Sir Robert Charles (he was knighted by the Queen in 1999) was the oldest golfer to make the cut on the European Tour, in front of a home crowd, during the Michael Hill New Zealand Open and is the only left handed golf player to be inducted into golf’s Hall of Fame.
Some Common Mistakes New Golfer Make
If your new to golf there are a few things that you need to know before you step out onto a golf course. You have all the right golf equipment and clubs you need but you need to also Known the right terminology of the game is new players worst downfall. To be able to play the game you have to understand the terminology used.
Here are a few key mistakes made by new golfers:
The way in which you score you game – “I Scored a 128 today” – it’s not I scored. The correct way to say it is “I Shot a 128 today”. If you can get this one right then your on your way to knowing the game.
Bunkers vs. Sand Traps – Even experienced golfers use the term “sand traps” to refer to the sandy pits of hell that take most of use 3-4 shots to extricate ourselves from, but the correct phrase is “bunkers”. The term sand trap is not listed in the official rules of golf. Listen to the pros, they’ll always call it a bunker.
Don’t stand to close to other golfers – Newbie’s don’t necessarily know where to stand when someone else is hitting. It’s important to make sure you’re standing in a location that doesn’t visually bother your fellow golfer. As a general rule, either get completely out of their peripheral vision and stand by the cart, or stand behind on a diagonal where they can see you and know you’re not right on top of their swing.
How to Choose the right Golf Ball
When deciding what golf ball suits you, consider:
Your Level of Play
If you are a beginner, or lose a lot of golf balls, then buying budget balls is the best thing to do. These are often packaged in 15 ball boxes and are a hard durable ball that will generally go further when you hit them. The only draw back of this ball is that it is very lively off of the club face and when it comes to chipping and putting can lack some of the soft feel that some golfers prefer.
The top players in the world all use soft golf balls. Up until about 4 years ago the cover of the ball was actually soft enough to mark with your finger nail and marked very easily when miss hit. This meant that only the best ball strikers, or golfers with more money than sense, would use them. These days the covers on these balls are very durable and the ball will spin and stop very quickly on and around the greens.
Harder Balls
Harder golf balls are perfect for the golfer who doesn’t lose too many balls but could do with more distance off the tee. These balls are not as hard as the budget type, but are durable and offer some feel around the green although they still won’t stop very quickly on landing.
Average Ball
If you want the combination of distance, feel and durability then balls such as the Titleist NXT Tour, the Callaway Hex 2 or the Strata Tour Straight are ideal. These are all what I call a medium ball giving the golfer consistent performance in all areas.
Soft Balls
The leading balls in this category are Titleist Pro V1, Callaway Hex, Strata Tour Ace, Hogen Apex Tour and the Maxfli M3. These balls are manufactured to the highest specification and quality and every golfer could play and enjoy them. They are however very expensive at about £10 for 3 balls if you are a bit wayward with your shots then it could cost a fortune in golf balls.
Whichever ball you choose, try to stick with that ball every time you play. You will get used to the feel and performances of the ball, which in turn will help, play more consistent golf.
