Left Hand Golf

Of the, estimated, 6.7 billion people in the world today, approximately, 10%or 6.7 million are left handed.

There are believed to be somewhere between 25-30 million golfers in the world today and , even, if you halved the 10% of left handed people in the world you are still left with approx. 1.25-1.5 million people who play golf that are naturally left handed. That is a whole lot of people!

Until recently left handed golfers were left with very little choice but to play with the same golf clubs as their right handed counterparts, but at last, the big golf manufacturers have woken up to the fact that “lefties “ might actually want to play with golf clubs that feel more natural to them. All the biggest names in golf manufacturing, not only, provide top quality right handed golf clubs but you can access the same top quality of left handed golf clubs too. Names such as, Callaway, TitleistNike,  etc sell their most famous clubs for players, which ever hand they use.

Bob Charles, a native of New Zealand, was the first left handed golfer to win The Open Championship in 1963 at Lytham and St Annes and is considered to be one of golf’s greatest putters of the ball. In 2007, Sir Robert Charles (he was knighted by the Queen in 1999) was the oldest golfer to make the cut on the European Tour, in front of a home crowd, during the Michael Hill New Zealand Open and is the only left handed golf player to be inducted into golf’s Hall of Fame.
