Golf Tips for Playing in the Rain

They key to playing golf in the rain is to have the right equipment. Making sure that you have the right waterproofs can be key to the success in your game. With the typical British weather you never know when you will end up playing golf in the rain, this is why every golfer who plays golf in the rain should have a set of waterproof clothing.

You need to make sure that your waterproofs fit you properly, this sounds obvious thing to state but if your sleeve is too long or to baggy this will affect the grip on your club therefore affecting your swing. It’s recommended that you go for a slimish fit jacket in order to overcome this problem. It’s also key to remember that most waterproof jackets have a special lining to keep you warm during the winter, bare this in mind when you are dressing for golf if you have a jumper underneath your jacket you may overheat and feel uncomfortable.

Aside from wearing the correct waterproof clothing it’s also recommended that you carry a spare glove in wet golfing conditions. Also keep this in a plastic bag so it’s kept extra dry. Often wearing a wet golf glove throughout the whole game can cause sores or blisters on the hand, changing your glove for a fresh one will reduce the risk of this happening.

Lastly remember to leave your waterproofs out to dry after your round, failure to do so will result in an unpleasant smell and may leave stains on your clothing. You can and should wash your waterproofs always check with the manufacture guidelines on this though as you don’t want to wash away material in extreme temperatures.
