Double Success for Westwood and Footjoy in Season Finale
FootJoy ambassador crowned champion as FootJoy takes top 4 spots
FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, is delighted to announce that England’s Lee Westwood secured the biggest win of his career at this week’s Dubai World Championships. The season long Race to Dubai was also clinched by the FootJoy ambassador in convincing fashion, with a 6 stroke victory over fellow FootJoy wearer Ross McGowan and from his nearest challenger, FootJoy ambassador Rory McIlroy. Westwood put on a stunning display of golf around the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth course in Dubai. A closing 64 marked the end of a hugely successful season for the Brit. It is the second year in succession that a FootJoy ambassador has been crowned Champion of Europe.
Westwood has been an advocate of the all new FJ ICON, which utilises the very best features from all FootJoy golf shoes: finely tailored upper designs, premium materials, performance-infused outsoles and customisation that allows for a seemingly endless amount of design and size options. The latest shoe from the team at FootJoy has seen unparalleled success on Tour since its launch. The impressive tally of recent FootJoy winners wearing FJ ICON includes; Ross McGowan, Lee Westwood, Ross Fisher and Ian Poulter. Westwood also wore a Pure Touch™ glove providing unrivalled feel, grip and performance. He was joined by McIlroy and Harrington who also chose Pure Touch™, with McGowan opting for the FootJoy StaSof®. Yet further proof that the world’s best opt for FootJoy.
The impressive and unsurpassed string of victories for FootJoy on Tour further illustrates the position FootJoy holds with the world’s elite. This week saw 66% of the field wearing FootJoy shoes compared to 17% of its nearest competitor. With eight out of the top fifteen in the Race to Dubai rankings choosing FootJoy and the top 4 at the Dubai World Championships proudly sporting the FJ logo, the performance speaks volumes for the world’s leading shoe brand.
“The FJ ICON has had a fabulous start to its life on tour. We are all very proud of Westwood’s achievements, as we are of all the FJ players who have won this year,” commented Richard Fryer, European Marketing Manager.
Whether it is the all-round excellence of the all new FJ ICON, the unrivalled stability of the SYNR•G™, or the reliable and consistent performance of DryJoys®, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.

Westwood Leads all Pro V1 Top-5 to be Crowned European #1
Titleist golf ball loyalist Lee Westwood races away from the pack to win Dubai World Championship
Lee Westwood trusted the iconic Titleist Pro V1x to claim the second European Tour Order of Merit title of his career after recording a sensational 6-shot victory at the season ending Dubai World Championship. Westwood’s 23-under par, 265 total, included a course record 8-under par 64 on Sunday, which saw him finish ahead of fellow Titleist golf ball player Ross McGowan (Pro V1x) and Titleist Ambassador Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x), who finished second and third respectively. Completing the all Pro V1 top-5 in Dubai were Padraig Harrington (Pro V1x) and Geoff Ogilvy (Pro V1) who finished tied fourth on 14-under par 274.
Westwood enjoyed a total of thirteen top-10 finishes throughout the 2009 Race to Dubai including third place finishes at both The Open and USPGA Championships and victory at the Portugal Masters. Westwood follows in the footsteps of Titleist Ambassador Robert Karlsson who also trusted the feel and control of the Pro V1 to be crowned European #1 in 2008 as Titleist golf balls continue to be the choice of champions. As well as being the ball of choice for each of the top 5 players on the final leaderboard, the Pro V1 was the preferred choice of the field at the Dubai World Championship with 33 players trusting Titleist, compared to 9 for the nearest competitor,
20-year old Rory McIlroy narrowly missed out on becoming the second youngest European #1 in Tour history, but his top three finish in Dubai secured second place in the 2009 Race to Dubai and capped a magnificent second full season as a professional for the Titleist Ambassador. McIlroy trusted Titleist from tee to green throughout the season including the Pro V1x ball, 909D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metals, ZM forged irons, Vokey Design pitching wedge, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback putter.
Elsewhere, Pro V1 loyalist Marcus Both trusted the performance of the Pro V1x to capture the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open on the Asian Tour with a final round 5-under 67 and one shot margin of victory. On the Australasian Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Aaron Townsend finished on 21-under par to win the Cellarbrations NSW PGA Championship ahead of fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Michael Wright and Scott Arnold as Titleist secured a 1-2-3 finish. These victories take the 2009 Titleist golf ball win count to 149 across the major worldwide professional Tours. This compares to 26 for the nearest competitor and is more than all other golf ball competitors combined.
Another European Tour victory and Order of Merit crown for a Pro V1 loyalist, an all Pro V1 top five at the European Tour’s premier event and the constant flow of victories for Titleist Pro V1 players worldwide acts as further proof that the game’s elite prefer the matchless performance of Titleist.

You can own this quality equipment too and feel the benefit of buying Nike Golf equipment of the very highest standard.
What Nike Say
After working with the winningest driver staff on the PGA Tour for the past three years, we reshaped our driver to reshape your game. The combination of the all-new Compression Channel technology and our award winning STR8-FIT face-angle technology deliver longer distance and more shot shaping control.
Technical Features
Compression Channel: Increased overall compression of the body produces increased, uniform ball speeds across the entire face.
STR8-FIT Tour adjustability: 32 face angle options make it easier for players to subtly perfect their shot shape.
Nike Golf Crossline Grip: Position your driver to deliver ultimate confidence and optimal performance
Aldila VooDoo : The shaft is specially designed with a patent-pending, one piece carbon fiber system. It keeps the shaft more concentric during the swing, meaning that the shaft won’t oval, deform or waste energy the way more conventional shafts do. This maintains the shaft’s intended structure throughout the swing, allowing it to flex identically every time – transferring a golfer’s maximum energy into the ball. The result: more distance, accuracy, and unmatched feel.
The Nike Golf STR8-FIT torque wrench : Provides a sound and LED light indicator to signal the shaft and STR8-FIT adaptor are fully secured.
What Golfbuyitonline Say.
Our Nike fitters at Golfbuyitonline.com love this technology. Jon quotes “When we are fitting clients our life is so much easier now with unlimited combinations of face angles to help achieve the perfect shot. Add this with the lofts and flexes and now the famous Voodoo shaft this Driver from Nike is Awesome.

Triple Major winner wakes up Callaway’s Tour rep to rave about new Tour i(s) Golf Ball
When you get a 5.30am wake-up call from Ernie Els wanting to share his excitement about the new Tour i(s)™ Golf Ball he has just put in play, it’s fair to assume you’re on to a winner!
That’s exactly what Callaway Golf’s PGA Tour representative, Barry Lyda, received from the excited South African. Barry said: “Ernie rang me at 5.30am in the morning to tell me what a revelation the ball had been. He absolutely adores using the new Tour i(s) and he can see an immediate improvement in his performance by using it.”
Els told Lyda: “The new Tour i(s) ball is unbelievable. It’s the ball I’ve been waiting for and to make a hole-in-one on only the second day of playing with it is fantastic. I now can’t wait to get going next year and I’m thoroughly looking forward to the future with a bag of equipment that is spot-on.”
The event marked a ‘1, 2, 3’ for Callaway Golf with World Number Two and Staff Professional, Phil Mickelson, winning the tournament and Golf Ball Staff Professional, Ryan Moore, taking third.
The ‘Big Easy’ enjoyed an amazing first week with the Tour i(s) Golf Ball that saw him shoot 22 birdies and two eagles, culminating in a stunning final round of 63 – a new course record. He also made dramatic improvements to his driving stats, averaging 299 yards off the tee, that’s eight yards longer than he has averaged all-season.
Ernie added: “My final round in Shanghai was one of the rounds of my life. I shot eight birdies and an eagle and stood on the 18th tee at 10-under for the round. I may have dropped a shot on the last hole, but regardless, it was a fantastic round of golf.”
The soon-to-be-launched Tour i(s) Golf Ball features an ultra-soft thin and durable urethane cover that grabs onto the grooves of a club for massive backspin on short shots while generating low driver spin for amazing distance off the tee. It also features a refined Hex design that helps the ball cut through the air more efficiently to give increased stability in windy conditions.
Steve Ogg, Callaway’s vice president of golf ball R&D, said: “The Tour i(s) is the most highly-engineered golf ball product we have ever come out with. It is the softest ball we’ve ever produced, but it also has what is technically called ‘a high core compression differential’. This is the difference between the compression of the inner core and the outer core. When you have a high-compression outer core, the ball holds its shape better when you’re hitting wedge shots so you can create more spin.
“However, the greater force generated from a driver will penetrate the outer core and compress the soft inner core, reducing spin and creating greater distance. Basically, this ball morphs to the shot that you want.”
This ball is expected to be in Stock January 2010. We’ll keep you updated.
Boundy Claims Hong Kong Open in 1-2 Finish For Titleist Full Line Players
Titleist Ambassadors Gregory Bourdy and Rory McIlroy trust Titleist equipment from tee to green to top the leaderboard in Asia
Gregory Bourdy captured his third European Tour title at the Hong Kong Golf Club shooting a final round 3-under par 67 to hold off fellow full line Titleist player Rory McIlroy by two shots. Bourdy’s 19-under par total of 261 was enough to hold off a weekend surge from McIlroy, who fired weekend rounds of 65 and 64 to finish in second place on 17-under par. McIlroy’s third top five finish in three weeks raises him to the top of the inaugural Race to Dubai rankings going into the Dubai World Championships while Bourdy’s victory sees him climb into the top-60 of the rankings and also claim his place at the season ending event.
Bourdy trusted the superior feel of Titleist from tee to green for his victory, including the iconic Pro V1, 909D2 driver, 909F2 fairway metal, 585.H utility metal, new MB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron putter. As well as being the choice of the top two finishers Hong Kong, Titleist was also the most played ball with 93 players compared to 18 for the nearest competitor, and also topped the counts for irons and wedges respectively.
Among the equipment trusted by Bourdy in claiming victory was the latest iron offering from Titleist, the forged MB. Featuring classic looks and superior shot control for the highly skilled golfer, the Titleist MB irons have been designed using feedback from Titleist’s stable of Tour players, and their superior feel and workability has quickly put them into the winners circle.
McIlroy also trusted Titleist from tee to green for his runners-up finish in Hong Kong, which sees him climb to the top of the Race to Dubai rankings with just one event remaining. McIlroy’s equipment included the Pro V1x, 909D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metals, ZM irons, Vokey Design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback putter. The precision and playability of Titleist throughout McIlroy’s bag has helped him claim eleven top-5 finishes this year including victory at the Dubai Desert Classic, as he looks to emulate fellow Titleist Ambassador Robert Karlsson who was crowned Europe’s #1 player in 2008.
An impressive victory for Titleist ambassador Gregory Bourdy takes the 2009 worldwide win count for Titleist golf balls to 146, more than five times the nearest competitor with 26 and more than all other brands combined, proving once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
