Pro V1x loyalist Lee Westwood leads all Titleist play-off to claim St. Jude Classic

Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, was guaranteed to be the choice of the champion at the St. Jude Classic after Pro V1x loyalist Lee Westwood, Titleist Brand Ambassador Robert Karlsson and Pro V1 loyalist Robert Garrigus all tied on 10-under par after regulation play. World No.3 Westwood finally triumphed at the fourth extra hole after his birdie saw off the challenge of Sweden’s Robert Karlsson, giving Westwood his second career PGA Tour victory. Trusting the feel and control of the legendary Pro V1x, Westwood topped a leaderboard in which each of the top four finishers and nine of the eleven players who finished in the top eight and ties trusted the performance of Titleist golf balls for their success.

Westwood becomes the first European to win the St. Jude Classic, holding off the challenge from his predecessor as European #1, Robert Karlsson, and American Robert Garrigus. Holding a two stroke lead going into the 72nd hole, Garrigus was unable to claim his maiden PGA Tour win, opening the door for Westwood and Karlsson, who trusted Titleist equipment throughout his bag to finish tied second. As well as being the choice of the top finishers in Memphis, Titleist golf balls were also the choice of the majority of the field, with 102 players teeing up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, compared to 19 players for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the counts for irons, sand, lob and approach wedges, and putters.

Elsewhere, on the LPGA Tour, Christie Kerr trusted the Pro V1 to claim the weather-delayed LPGA State Farm Classic for her 13th LPGA Tour victory. Kerr completed her final round 3-under par 69 on Monday to finish one shot ahead of Pro V1x loyalist Na Yeon Choi and one other, as four of the top five players in the top-4 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. On the China PGA Champions Tour, Yuan Hao trusted the Pro V1x to claim the third event of the 2010 season in Beijing. Yuan Hao claimed a three shot victory from fellow Pro V1x loyalist Kong Wei Hai and Pro V1 loyalist Craig Scott. These victories take Titleist’s 2010 worldwide golf ball win count to 56, compared to 11 for the nearest competitor.

A second PGA Tour victory for Lee Westwood after coming through an all-Titleist play-off in Memphis, coupled with wins for Pro V1 loyalists around the world continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.

Lee Westwood captures PGA Tour title in exciting climax at the PGA Tours St. Jude Classic
