Golfing Tip Special – Tip 1 Grip

This week we are going to be blogging about some useful tips that we think could promote your game this summer. Today’s golf tip we will be covering Grip.

Every golfer should strive to have the perfect grip on their golf club. Developing a good golf grip, by holding the golf club correctly, you can seriously improve your game. If you find that your grip is incorrect that, there are a number of ways in which you can work towards getting the perfect grip.

Firstly you need to ensure that you have the right grip size for your hands. Grip size can be a criteria element in club fitting and performance on the course. While standard size grips are adequate for the vast majority of golfers, many players can benefit from oversize or undersize grips.

Once you have selected the appropriate grip size you need to ensure that you are holding the club correctly. Hold the club in the left hand if you are right-handed (vice-versa for left handers). The club should lie across the bottom of your fingers, just above the palm. The V formed by your thumb and forefinger should point toward your right shoulder. This will allow your right hand to sit perfectly in position with the line that has been formed between the thumb and the index finger.

You then need to focus on the pressure of the grip. Your grip should be firm but not to tight, a good way to test this is by a visual check. Hold the club in the left hand only and raise it up to waist height. Look at the thumbnail of your left hand and see what colour it is. If you are gripping too tight you will see whiteness around the tip. If the pressure is correct your nail will appear it’s normal pink colour.

Holding the golf club always feels awkward at first but will soon come naturally with practice. Here at Golfbuyitonline we have a huge selection of grips, if your wears out or you don’t have the correct grip on your club you should defiantly consider getting a new grip.
