Stricker Trusts Titleist To Claim Victory At The Northern Trust Open
Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker rises to World #2 with Titleist’s fifth consecutive win on the 2010 PGA Tour
Steve Stricker continued Titleist’s stellar start to the 2010 PGA Tour season as he trusted Titleist equipment to claim his eighth career PGA Tour victory at the Northern Trust Open. Stricker’s win is the fifth in a row for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the PGA Tour following wins for Geoff Ogilvy, Ryan Palmer, Bill Haas and Ben Crane. Stricker fired a final round 1-under par 70 to finish on 16-under par, two shots ahead of Pro V1x loyalist Luke Donald, as three of the top four put their trust in Titleist balls for their success. The win also lifts Stricker to #2 in the Official World Rankings following three other wins in the last eight months for the full line Titleist player.
Stricker relied on Titleist to claim victory at the Riviera Country Club, using the legendary Pro V1 ball, 909D3 driver, 906F fairway, 909H hybrids, 755 irons and Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges. As well as being the choice of the Champion, Titleist balls were the overwhelming favourite, with 79 players putting their trust in either the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, compared to 18 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the counts for iron sets, hybrids, sand, lob and approach wedges and putters respectively. Stricker’s victory was also the fifth straight PGA Tour win for players using Titleist irons.
Elsewhere, Jim Herman won an all Titleist golf ball play-off as he beat Titleist Brand Ambassador Chris Kirk at the first play-off hole to claim his first Nationwide Tour victory at the Moonah Classic. Herman and Kirk tied on 11-under par, one shot ahead of Titleist Brand Ambassador Robert Gates, who continued his strong start to the 2010 season, having trusted Titleist throughout his bag to win the New Zealand Open last week. On the Asian Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Gaganjeet Bhullar fired a final round course record 8-under par to beat fellow Pro V1x loyalist Hwang Inn-choon by one shot to claim the season-opening Asian Tour International. These victories have now taken Titleist’s 2010 worldwide golf ball win tally to 12 compared to just 3 for the nearest competitor.
The fifth consecutive victory on the 2010 PGA Tour for the legendary Pro V1 franchise, and the third for a full line Titleist player, in addition to further victories across worldwide professional tours, provides further proof that the game’s elite opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.

Boundy Claims Hong Kong Open in 1-2 Finish For Titleist Full Line Players
Titleist Ambassadors Gregory Bourdy and Rory McIlroy trust Titleist equipment from tee to green to top the leaderboard in Asia
Gregory Bourdy captured his third European Tour title at the Hong Kong Golf Club shooting a final round 3-under par 67 to hold off fellow full line Titleist player Rory McIlroy by two shots. Bourdy’s 19-under par total of 261 was enough to hold off a weekend surge from McIlroy, who fired weekend rounds of 65 and 64 to finish in second place on 17-under par. McIlroy’s third top five finish in three weeks raises him to the top of the inaugural Race to Dubai rankings going into the Dubai World Championships while Bourdy’s victory sees him climb into the top-60 of the rankings and also claim his place at the season ending event.
Bourdy trusted the superior feel of Titleist from tee to green for his victory, including the iconic Pro V1, 909D2 driver, 909F2 fairway metal, 585.H utility metal, new MB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron putter. As well as being the choice of the top two finishers Hong Kong, Titleist was also the most played ball with 93 players compared to 18 for the nearest competitor, and also topped the counts for irons and wedges respectively.
Among the equipment trusted by Bourdy in claiming victory was the latest iron offering from Titleist, the forged MB. Featuring classic looks and superior shot control for the highly skilled golfer, the Titleist MB irons have been designed using feedback from Titleist’s stable of Tour players, and their superior feel and workability has quickly put them into the winners circle.
McIlroy also trusted Titleist from tee to green for his runners-up finish in Hong Kong, which sees him climb to the top of the Race to Dubai rankings with just one event remaining. McIlroy’s equipment included the Pro V1x, 909D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metals, ZM irons, Vokey Design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback putter. The precision and playability of Titleist throughout McIlroy’s bag has helped him claim eleven top-5 finishes this year including victory at the Dubai Desert Classic, as he looks to emulate fellow Titleist Ambassador Robert Karlsson who was crowned Europe’s #1 player in 2008.
An impressive victory for Titleist ambassador Gregory Bourdy takes the 2009 worldwide win count for Titleist golf balls to 146, more than five times the nearest competitor with 26 and more than all other brands combined, proving once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.

Grips are Important
The grip is your only contact with the club so it mustn’t be overlooked when you play golf on a regular basis. You should clean and brush your golf grips regularly to attempt to maintain the original grip and feel of your clubs.
However, if you play once or twice a week then you should look to replace your grips every 12 months or so, or even sooner if signs of wear and tear are showing. If you apply quite a lot of pressure when gripping the clubs you might need to replace even more often than that! Some golfers change their grips 3 to 4 times a year as they realise what a difference it can make to their game!
When a new grip comes onto the market you should also think carefully as to whether you could gain benefit by fitting them onto your set. After all, modern surfaces keep improving all the time and technology constantly improves giving you better adhesion and contact in your hands.
Grip size is very important too – too small would rotate the hands quickly giving a draw or hook spin. On the other hand to thick a grip would hinder or slow the club rotation giving a slice or fade spin.
Climate conditions can influence grip selection too. Some grips react better in wet and some react better in drier or more humid conditions. Most grips, especially worn or part worn grips, react unfavorably in cold conditions. Badly fitted grips can also cause alignment problems which can lead to a host of problems.
So the key to success of you game is grip, get it right and it won’t let you down.
Cutter & Buck Golf Clothing
If you are a style addict who happens to, also, be a golfing enthusiast, then the brand Cutter and Buck will not be new to you.
Unlike other designer golf clothing, Cutter and Buck started with golf and spread their influence out (many designer brands started with street clothes and adapted their style to golf clothing or from other sports and altered their clothing lines to suit the golfing game).
Cutter and Buck have built their golf clothing reputation on quality production of fashionable golf apparel that reflects the huge popularity of golf with a younger, more style conscious market who want to be seen in clothes that reflect their own tastes in styling and clothing, that in previous generations of golfers would have been deemed unthinkable and did not match the ultra conservative image that golfers had acquired.
Now, meeting the needs of the modern golfer does not, necessarily, mean that a golfer should be attired in designs that require any players within a hundred yards of them to wear sun glasses. Cutter and Buck offer golf clothing in up to the minute colours and designs, but, need not be outlandish at all (but, if that is your style, then Cutter and Buck golf clothing can accommodate that fashion statement, too).
Callaway Golf Club Review
Callaway golf clubs combine a rare blend of fun and forgiveness in the game, used by golfer greats such as Arnold Palmer and Steve Ballesteros Callaway has earned a well respected position within the golf retail market.
Every golf club made by Callaway has a forgiving nature even in the hands of beginner. Catering for amateurs and pro golfers alike the variety of products available is sufficient to outfit them from head to toe, plus a few other things besides. Meaning your favourite Callaway golf clubs are complemented by golf clothing, balls, accessories, stand and cart bags, gloves and headgear.
However, the VIP of the brand remains to be the golf clubs. Under this category, you can choose from a wide selection of drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters. These golf clubs are a testament to Callaway’s commitment to cater to every individual golfer, from the novice to the master, from the young set to the older set, from the right-handed to the lefties. Arguably, the star amongst all the available Callaway clubs is the Big Bertha.
Big Bertha is famous for the New Edge Technology which provides a high MOI and an optimized CG location for Draw or Neutral models that produce long, penetrating ball flights with the desired shot shape. It also helps golfers square the clubface at impact, especially when swinging aggressively. Hyperbolic Face Technology increases ball speed across the entire face of the club helping send balls further down the fairway, even on miss-hits.
The golf clubs of Callaway are all made by combining golf artistry with the latest in technology and in knowledge. Specifically, you can expect your golf club to contain one or more of the following technologies:
- Hyperbolic face technology to produce a bigger effective hitting area
- VFT technology to maximize ball speed through adjustments in face thickness
- S2H2 and modified Tru-Bore technology improves the feel and control of the golf club
- Extreme notch weighing for greater stability and forgiveness
- 360-degree undercut channel that enlarges the hitting area and stabilizes the golf club
The technology behind the innovation can be a little technical but you can definitely experience the difference with Callaway clubs. After all, Callaway stands behind its golf clubs, in more ways than one.

Kenny Perry’s Traveller’s Championship was TaylorMade
TaylorMade Golf Tour Staff professional Kenny Perry fired a nearly effortless, bogey-free final-round 63 to clinch victory at the Traveler’s Championship. It was his second win on the PGA Tour this year, his fifth in the past 13 months and his first since switching to the new R9 460 driver.
It was the 14th career PGA Tour win for the 48-year old Perry, whose goal is to reach 20. His Traveler’s win was a record-setter for the event at 22-under par that started with an opening-round 61 and finished with a final round 63 to stave off fellow TMaG staffer and R9™ 460 user Paul Goydos.
This is as good a win as I’ve ever had,” Perry said. “On Sunday, my golf was unbelievable. To shoot 22-under par, to break the all-time record of all the great champions that are on this trophy, it’s unbelievable.”
With his R9 460, Kenny ranked 12th in driving distance with an average of 293.1 yards and T20th in driving accuracy at 80.4% of fairways hit. He also ranked T3rd in greens in regulation. *
The victory was his fifth on the PGA Tour in a little more than a year; the most of any player in that time span. It elevated Kenny to No. 1 on the PGA Tour money list, No. 1 on the Fedex points list, No. 3 on the Presidents Cup points list and No. 3 on the Ryder Cup points list.
Perry was one of 38 players who played an R9 driver, 14 of whom used the just-introduced R9 460.

Fairways: TaylorMade Burner 3-wood, Prototype Raylor® 17.5°

Titleist – #1 With Club Professionals
Titleist was the overwhelming favourite at the 2009 Glenmuir PGA Professionals Championship at Dundonald Links, as PGA Club Professionals followed the example set by the world’s best players on Tour by choosing Titleist. The legendary Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf ball franchise claimed the #1 position in the ball category. The strength and depth of Titleist’s products was further demonstrated as they led the count for drivers, fairway metals, utilities, irons and wedges*. As well as being the firm favourite throughout the field, Titleist was also the choice of the champion, James Lee, who trusted the performance and workability of Titleist from tee to green.
Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls led the way for Titleist as they were the choice of 140 players. This accounted for 88.1% of the field, more than seventeen times the nearest competitor with eight players; proving that players across all levels of the professional game opt for the matchless performance of the #1 ball in golf when it really counts.
Titleist enjoyed similar success in many of the club categories, proving that Titleist’s clubs meet the needs of the best players throughout the professional ranks. The latest range of drivers, including the Tour proven 909 D2, 909 D3 and 909 DComp helped Titleist top the driver count with 45% of the field. The latest 909 F2 and 909 F3 fairway metals and 909H hybrid also helped Titleist top the fairways and utility categories with 29.1% and 34.8% of the field respectively.
The playability of Titleist irons such as the tour proven AP2 and ZB forged irons saw them as the preferred choice of better players, topping the iron category with 57 players, 35.8 % of the field. Titleist Vokey Design wedges, designed by master craftsman Bob Vokey, also topped their category respectively, accounting for over half of all wedges in play at Dundonald Links. Vokey wedges accounted for 50.8% of the field, more than four times the nearest competitor with 10.7%.
To cap a fine week for Titleist, the winner at Dundonald Links, James Lee, trusted Titleist right through his bag including a Titleist 909 DComp driver, Titleist 906 F2 fairway metal, Titleist AP2 irons, Vokey 200 Series wedges and Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter. Lee claimed a four stroke victory with his three-over par total, 291, and booked his place in the GB & I team for this year’s PGA Cup.
A further win for the #1 ball in golf at Dundonald Links, as well as Titleist topping the count for drivers, fairways, hybrids, irons and wedges proves once again that better players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
