It was a successful year for a number of FootJoy ambassadors with England’s Lee Westwood leading the way securing the biggest European Tour win of his career at the season finale Dubai World Championships which also saw him win the inaugural Race to Dubai. Angel Cabrera took the second Major title of his career at the 79th Masters at Augusta National while other established stars Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher also finished the season off with big wins. O.K. so this obviously isn’t your father’s FootJoy. Actually it can be, but it’s not the traditional brown/white saddle that’s been a staple in golf for so many years. This is FJ SPORT. It’s young, fast, colorful, and best of all it features all the performance and quality you’ve come to expect from FootJoy. Around 18 months ago we started working on FJ Olympian (the working name for this group of shoes) with several goals in mind: #1. It needed to look different and it needed to look cool. #2. It needed to be a performance shoe that offered great platform stability, waterpoof protection and comfort from tee to green. #3. Lastly, it needed to be reasonably priced so that everyone had an opportunity to give it a test drive! Hopefully you agree goal #1 was achieved. The uppers are athletic-inspired, while maintaining a look that’s acceptable on the golf course. There are cool molding details throughout and colorful RF weldings in the heel area. The full TPU outsole is molded, then painstakingly painted in matching colors and metallics giving it a high tech appearance. Our designers research color trends throughout the year to determine what trends will be visible in the upcoming months and years. The orange, yellow and blue that we chose are spot on. What’s also cool about these styles is that we’ve matched the cleat color to the upper color tying it all together.

Nike Golf athlete John Cook captured his third career Champions Tour victory at the Administaff Small Business Classic in The Woodlands, Texas after posting a final round score of four-under-par 68 to win by two strokes over fellow Nike athlete Bob Tway.

Cook hit some crucial shots coming down the stretch, including a near-perfect drive on the final hole. “On 18, I hit one of my best drives of the week,” he said. “I trusted what I was seeing.” Assisting him to victory was Cook’s Nike SQ DYMO STR8-FIT driver, which was set 1-degree up and 1-degree open. He finished the week tied for 14th in driving accuracy with an average of 80%

Using the combination of Nike’s Victory Red (VR) blade irons and Nike ONE Tour golf ball, Cook finished tied for third in greens in regulation with an average of 74%. He finished sixth in putts per greens in regulation using the Nike Method putter which already has been used by Nike athletes to win three times on the PGA Tour, including two Major championships. Paul Casey used it to win the Shell Houston Open and Lucas Glover and Stewart Cink used it to win the U.S. Open and the OPEN Championship, respectively. The Method Putter will be available in limited quantities online at www.nikestore.com beginning at 12:01 p.m. EST on Monday, November 2, 2009. The successful Method Putters will be available at retail on February 1, 2010.

Rounding out Cook’s Nike arsenal for this win are his 53- and 59-degree VR wedges. Cook was wearing Nike Golf apparel and Nike Golf Air Zoom Tour footwear for his victory.

When FootJoy, the company with a 100 year history of serving the game of golf, decided to introduce its finest golf shoe ever, the company drew from finely tailored upper patterns, premium leathers, performance-infused outsoles and an almost limitless customisation options to create the new FJ ICON.
